Festive fun with friends & family ….

And so it begins! The festive season of socialising and spending lots of time with our friends & family has arrived. So far, so good. It is always a challenge balancing work and fun stuff with enough sleep but I am determined not to say yes to every invite, tempting as it is!

Pretty much all of the social occasions revolve around food; Manchester Christmas Markets, big pre-Christmas buffet at ours for family, annual girlie luncheon out followed by Christmas meal number 1 (with one half of the family) and two days after another full Christmas meal (with the other half of the family)…. I already feel stuffed and we still have a good few weeks left of over indulgence. It’s a bit early to be thinking about January but it will be a month of simple eating that is for sure.

I do have a habit of giving myself a hard time when I over indulge and then get grumpy from being too tired which are both reasons I haven’t crammed my diary full this year. I am planning to be less harsh on myself and just enjoy some time off and be ok with eating too much cheese. It has been a bit difficult saying ‘no’ to some things and I also have a little bit of ‘fear of missing out‘ but I figure that quality is better than quantity. I can’t wait to spend time with friends & family which doesn’t feel rushed, where we can properly catch up and share stories of the previous year and talk about our plans for the year ahead.

I know it sounds daft but I just want to take the time to appreciate how lucky I am to have lovely people to spend time with. Not everyone has their friends & family around them at this time of year and I don’t want to take mine for granted. Both of my brothers won’t be joining us again this year, one is in Qatar and one is in the RAF and is also abroad so they will both be missed – I can’t wait for the day they are both back at Christmas, it is a very long time since we have all been together so I want to make the most of the time I have with those who are here.

Who are you looking forward to sharing your time with this year?

Have a wonderful time wherever you are and with whoever you share your time with this holiday xx

Ahh tis’ the season again. This year has gone by pretty quickly.

I’m looking forward to spending time with tourists as we head to Vietnam and Philippines. Get away from the hustle and bustle.

Enjoy the season to be jolly Sarah! Eat, eat, eat!
