Yes! to time off, holidays and trying to keep the work life balance. Work has been mad busy so far in 2016 so a week off from everything has been much needed.
I love my job and love sharing my thoughts on the blog however sometimes it can feel a little bit too serious and it makes my brain tired! Tired is good, it is sign of the effort we put in but we can only continue the effort with a well deserved rest too.

A week spent in the beautiful British Lake District, cooped up in a tiny converted chapel, in the middle of nowhere with the husband and naughty pups has been the best way to re-charge, catch up on sleep and eat my own body weight in freshly baked vanilla slices from the local bakery (hmmmm, that wasn’t in the plan of course!).

During our time off we stayed at the cute Po House ChapelĀ for 4 nights which was our base for the holiday, in the South West lakes on the coast and then did a few day trips, via the Broughton Village Bakery & Cafe, we had to pass through Broughton village to get anywhere so it made sense to stock up!

We had a wet and cold walk around Coniston village and lake followed by a lovely meal at theĀ Bluebird Cafe, another day was spent in the town of Ulverston where we sheltered from the freezing winter weather in Gillam’s and drank fantastic coffee – hard to choose a favourite when they have so much choice!

A final treat, which the husband had arranged, was a trip out to Cartmel with an amazing meal at the Rogan & Company restaurant ……. mmmmm.

We couldn’t have asked for more typical rainy, cold weather and then it snowed too! This made for fantastic views across the Lakes and Mountains. Of course the sunshine and warm summer weather is hard to beat but somehow the winter weather suits the scenery.

Time to look forward to Spring and Summer now and plan the next break …..
